I feel like I’ve gotten to know some beautiful, smart and motivated East Surry High School seniors this past year! I love that we live in a small town which means I see them “around” everywhere! Especially this summer at the pool when they saw me in a totally different light, two boys in tow and not always on their best behavior…..

Kelsey’s mom (who is the best BTW) took my beginner DSLR workshop in Pilot Mountain this January & she was nice enough to model for us. I don’t know how you parents of teenagers do it, but if my boys turn out to be as respectful and kind as the ladies I worked with this year, I will be one happy mama! Kelsey, thanks for your hard work and I hope you enjoy the result! Its amazing what good light & dead twigs behind an abandoned building can achieve in the camera, right?

I am catching up on blogging! Excited to introduce you to this sweet couple! You will see more of them this summer after their July 2013 wedding in Raleigh, NC. Elizabeth is a Pilot Mountain native so we found a great local spot & even shot a few on main street. I love their energy, smiles, sweet pup & can’t wait to be a part of their big day! Emjoy!

Family Ties

We all looked up to Allan growing up! Seriously, she was the cool big sister of Hollan, my oldest friend to date. I remember when she got her license & riding with her was hands down the coolest moment of my pre teen life. Looking at these photographs reminds me how full circle we have all come, adults, with families and living real life! I was so flattered when she asked me to photograph her sweet family at Old Salem this past fall! I was also able to shoot Hollan’s rehearsal dinner (and her adorable hubby Glenn!) at Graylyn last year. Since I am in a reminiscing mood I thought I would share those as well! I have know this family since the age of 4 and they will always hold a special place in my heart! There are too many good memories to count!

When the mom of these handsome boys told me her idea for a studio shoot, I loved it! She wanted to do a special series of photos for her husband, with her 3 boys wearing a tie, his glasses and his shoes! Love how it came out!

I always feel like a wedding blog post is so final! After spending a lot of time with couples through engagements, bridals, and every single moment of their wedding day, its always bitter sweet to present their wedding images. Christina and Peter are so in love and it shows. They have a great sense of humor and a close network of family and friends which made for an emotional, hilarious and stunningly beautiful wedding day! I had a smile on my face every step of the way and the October weather in Murrells Inlet/Pawleys island was warm and sunny. They promised forever and I was fortunate enough to capture it all. I love telling stories through photographs and hope you can feel the love through the images. My partner in crime, Sara Wise from the Bridesmaid Event Planning & More, help put together the perfect day! I have been chomping at the bit (haha, see my humor there?!) to get this session on the blog. I’ve worked with dogs but never horses, it was a great creative push for me! These ladies handled them so well, I was very impressed! There is something nostalgic about the light, the connections they share and the rustic textures of the gates that just makes me swoon! I am so glad they asked me to share in their everyday life

These two tied the knot last month at the O’henry Hotel in Greensboro NC. We didn’t let the on again, off again rain stop us! It turned out to be a wonderful day with a few minutes outside here and there. Father of the bride set us up with the fabulous old car and a little off camera flash work made for some unique photos in the courtyard of the hotel. You can feel the love with the family and I was so thankful to be a part of their special day! Congrats to Jason and Anne Marie and enjoy! And don’t miss the last image, one of my top 10 favorite shots to date!

Baby Flash

I am in the process of getting some of the studio work from the past few months on the blog! New blog, new studio, its been a busy summer and fall for sure! Newborn photography is something I started offering when I moved into my space on Main Street in Pilot Mountain this summer. It has wonderfully huge windows on the front side which provides for a nice and quiet, comfortable space for baby, family and photographer! Learning newborn photography has been one of the most challenging tasks I have taken on since entering this business. It requires a great deal of patience, the ability to work with each baby individually and on the top of the list, safety for baby is first! Not to mention studio photography being new as well……the lighting, the shadows, the backdrops and props! I never knew how much I would love the contrast of working indoors and out and being able to offer my clients more options and variety. Now that I am settled in and happy with whats coming out of my camera, I am thrilled that I took this big step! Meet this little man who spend the morning with me at 7 days old, Flash!
